Heritage Design, Modern Performance: A Kensington Washroom Refurbishment
This traditional washroom refurbishment in Kensington, London was delivered for DMG Media (The Daily Mail Group) and carefully styled in collaboration with Lady Rothmere to create a timeless, classic commercial washroom that reflects the heritage and prestige of the building.
Designed to balance traditional aesthetics with modern performance, the refurbishment enhances staff facilities while maintaining the architectural character expected of a landmark London media organisation.
Timeless Traditional Washroom Design
The design centres around marble-effect vanity tops with matching upstands, offering the appearance of natural stone combined with durability and ease of maintenance—ideal for high-traffic commercial washrooms.
These vanity units are complemented by Burlington mono mixer taps and coordinating soap dispensers, selected for their classic form, premium finish, and long-term reliability. Together, these elements create a cohesive washroom environment that feels elegant, refined, and enduring.
High-Quality Materials & Thoughtful Specification
The WC cubicles provide full privacy and are finished in a woodgrain laminate, introducing warmth and texture to the space while remaining robust and suitable for commercial use.
Kursall ceramic floor tiles have been installed throughout the washrooms, chosen for their non-slip properties, durability, and ease of cleaning, ensuring safety without compromising on visual appeal.
Wall finishes have been carefully selected from Sanderson, using a combination of Dusky White and Cameo White, creating a soft, neutral palette that enhances light levels and reinforces the traditional character of the space.
Space-Efficient Urinal Design
Healey & Lord Florida premium ceramic urinal bowls have been specified across the project. Their distinctive traditional design naturally provides user privacy without the need for urinal dividers, improving space efficiency while maintaining a high-end aesthetic—ideal for premium commercial washrooms.
