Privacy Perfected: A Bold New Look for Ratcliffe College Washrooms
Ratcliffe College is an independent, co-educational Catholic boarding and day school for pupils aged 3 to 18, located in Leicestershire. This project involved the refurbishment of the existing male and female washroom facilities, with a focus on enhancing privacy for pupils. To achieve this, we installed our premier range of high-performance washroom cubicles, designed with increased height and supported by a floor-mounted track system to maximise privacy.
The cubicles are constructed from 13mm thick Solid Grade Laminate (SGL), a highly durable, waterproof, and impact-resistant material. Manufactured by compressing multiple layers of resin-impregnated kraft paper under high pressure and temperature, SGL is a solid and dense alternative to standard laminate, which typically features a chipboard or MDF core. Its superior resistance to moisture and vandalism makes it an ideal choice for educational environments.

Smart Surfaces, Seamless Hygiene, Student-Centric
The hygienic safety flooring was selected from our stone range—a heavy-duty collection containing clear aluminium oxide particles to ensure exceptional slip resistance. For the walls, UPVC cladding was installed, offering a smooth, non-porous, and moisture-resistant surface that inhibits bacterial growth. Easy to clean and maintain, it is perfectly suited for areas requiring high hygiene standards. This was further enhanced by the addition of a gypsum-based ultra-white suspended ceiling, which is also easy to maintain and brightens the space.
The refurbishment was completed with high-quality finishes, including new black ironmongery, vanity mirrors, designer radiators, and hand dryers, all of which contribute to a modern and refined washroom environment suitable for a prestigious educational setting.
